Growing an annual event

The Challenge

After a successful inaugural event Panasonic Computer Product Solutions (CPS) (a leading manufacturer of ruggedized computer solutions within the automotive industry) wanted to grow the annual Automotive Innovation Summit (AIS).

The brief was to increase the events audience by reaching out to existing and potential customers and to develop key partnerships with supporting event sponsors. The event needed to create a forum for sharing ideas, promote new innovative technologies and induce an environment that encouraged working together to develop a better future for the industry. Creating a community of guests was the key goal.

Key objectives of the event were to provide an environment to network with industry peers and demonstrate innovation in the automotive industry. The Panasonic brand had to be at the forefront of the event identity.  

The Solution

The three day event was held at the Nürburgring, Germany. This themed venue brought the content together and really created the ‘wow factor’ for the event attendees.

Communique worked alongside Panasonic to deliver a dynamic and thought-provoking agenda with topics that ignited conversations among peers. The large exhibition area, hosting partner sponsors, created the focal point and central networking area for the event.

Networking was paramount to the event and hosted evening dinners provided the perfect environment for guests to interact with each other.

A communications strategy was put into practice throughout the lead up to the event in order to create a buzz and drive attendance. Creating an identity ensured the event was seen as an industry event, not solely about the Panasonic brand.  

The Results

The Event achieved an overwhelming return on objectives and investment that was recognised by Panasonic Corporation, resulting in extremely positive feedback.

167 attendees representing 51 automotive companies attended, a 59% increase from the inaugural event.

31 conference speakers and 23 workshop sessions prompted discussions which succeeded in positioning Panasonic as an instigator of change and innovator of technology in the industry.

In addition, the event increased sponsor commitment significantly achieving a 112% increase in funding from 17 companies compared to the eight sponsors of 2013.

The international conference and exhibition was 12 months in the planning involving a team of 18 people spanning sponsorship, creative, project, production, digital, conference and exhibition management.
